The Bling Ring is a 2013 American crime drama film based on true events. Directed, written and produced by Sofia Coppola, it stars newcomers Katie Chang, Israel Broussard, and Claire Julien, as well as Emma Watson and Taissa Farmiga. Filming began in March 2012. It opened the Un Certain Regard section of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and released nationwide on June 21, 2013 (June 14, 2013 in New York City and Los Angeles).
